Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Our tester follow a structured career development plan that builds their skills and knowledge. This includes leveraging Planit’s world leading training courses coupled with mentoring and guidance from our experienced managers and trainers.

Furthermore, our testers benefit significantly from working with clients across a variety of domains and industries, using this experience and training to delivery a well-rounded approach to testing.

Every Planit tester is certified to their level of skill, with our junior testers possessing the ISTQB Foundation Certificate, progressing through the ISTQB Advanced-level certifications as they gain experience and seniority.

Many of our testers are also accredited with the Certified Agile Essentials and Certified Agile Tester qualifications.

  • Tester

    Our Testers are degree qualified with IT or related business experience. They must pass a rigorous selection process prior to entering an intensive ‘Bootcamp’ program that includes a suite of training courses - the same courses we teach industry professionals. Upon successfully completing the course and passing the Bootcamp exam, they then become members of the Planit team. They are primarily used for Test Execution but are also able to work alongside Test Analysts in all areas of Test Preparation.

    Typical Experience: Entry level position.

  • Test Analyst

    Planit’s Test Analysts are skilled in full life cycle testing including requirements review and analysis, test preparation, test execution and incident management. They combine industry experience with testing skills to meet client and project objectives and are capable of applying their test process skills in any industry.

    Typical Experience: 12 months testing experience, exposure to different testing tools.

  • Senior Test Analyst

    Senior Test Analysts are skilled in the full test life cycle including requirements review and analysis, test preparation, test execution and incident management. They are specialists in their fields and take operating control over team initiatives liaising closely with the test lead or manager.

    Typical Experience: Minimum 3 years testing experience, with subject matter expertise in 1 industry sector or test tool, with exposure to different testing tools.

  • Test Lead

    Test Team Leads are responsible for team management and ensure that the agreed test strategy is implemented appropriately. Significant experience in leading teams, full life cycle testing and competency across test tools.

    Typical Experience: Minimum 3-4 years testing experience, commercial understanding of 1 industry, people management experience.

  • Test Consultant

    Test Consultants develop, lead and controls teams on project work, implement, track and manage test process and progress. They are fully adept at creating test strategies and plans and all associated test reporting. They take responsibility for the production, delivery and completion of test phases.

    Typical Experience: 5 years testing experience, multiple domain knowledge, 2 years project test management experience – planning and leading projects.

  • Senior Test Consultant

    Senior Test Consultants develop and leads large teams across significant or multiple programs of work. They Assess risk and determine optimum risk reduction plans. They are experienced at negotiating with vendors and suppliers to ensure testing deliverables are met. They create test strategies and test plans at either the program, project or test-phase level and can report at all levels within a client organisation.

    Typical Experience: 8 years testing experience, multiple domain knowledge, 2 years project test management - leading and managing projects.

  • Principal Consultant

    Our Principal Consultants works with clients at strategic level, providing strong leadership and management to large, complex or distressed projects when required. They undertake test process improvement initiatives, tool evaluation, test audits and work shops and play a key role in relationship management of our accounts.

    Typical Experience: 10 years testing experience, experience with managing multiple complex projects.
