The 2012 Index reported a marginal increase in the uptake of performance testing, with 24 percent of respondents now conducting performance testing as a key part of their projects. This still indicates 76 percent of organisations put a lower priority on performance testing, including 12 percent who do not conduct any performance testing.
Planit Testing Index 2012: How Performance Testing is Conducted
While no industry reported a majority response for performance testing being conducted as a key part of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), it was clearly more valued among Financial Services and Software Development / IT companies, with a third considering performance testing to be ‘key’, far exceeded the industry average. By comparison, just 14% of Government respondents reported performance testing as being key to their projects, representing a lesser number than those who conducted no performance testing at all (16%).
