Welcome to our Meet the Team series, where we look at the lives of various Planit team members from across the company. We caught up with Gabriel Ojeah, a principal consultant with our UK team since 2012, to find out about his experience and skills, his relocation to the UK, and his love of sports.

What is your career background?

I have over 14 years performance testing and engineering experience working with various technologies such as Mulesoft, IBM WebSphere, Microsoft .NET, AWS and Azure Cloud, and SAP. I have worked on projects in the financial services, hospitality, sporting, semiconductor, aviation, and many other domains with a focus on performance testing and engineering.

What are your key areas of expertise?

Since I have a technical background as a performance test consultant, my skills span requirements gathering, test estimation, risk assessment analysis, test planning and designing, test scripting, and test execution and reporting.

I have experience using tools such as HP LoadRunner, HP Performance Center, Borland Silk Performer, Apache JMeter, and others. I also have a good understanding of server monitoring using MS SCOM, Tivoli ITCAM, HP SiteScope, New Relic, and others.

What do you love about your job?

I love solving scripting challenges, building frameworks, analysing the components of a client’s solution, and being able to work with clients to identify and mitigate risks.

What makes you great at your job?

I’m a committed team player in both small and large teams. My other strengths are my communication and interpersonal skills, patience, staying on top of industry trends, and being able to covey information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

What do you love about your team?

They’re all experienced individuals that, when combined, can expertly suggest improvements to deliver complex projects.

What do you love about working for Planit?

I really like the variety of clients and skilled people I get to work with. Then there’s the opportunity to transfer to any of Planit’s global offices, which I did by relocating from Planit in Sydney to the United Kingdom in 2016. The team there was rapidly expanding at the time, so it was a great opportunity for me to step into a more senior role and further develop my career.

What's your favourite challenge solved in the line of duty?

I clearly remember this one instance where I had to deliver a challenging and complex performance testing project for a client in a short period of time.

What was the solution and results?

I created a framework that allowed the client to be able to repeat performance tests in a uniform matter. This framework allowed us to save time that would have been used to set up the test, enabling us to use this time to analyse the results and quickly implement performance improvements.

What have you been doing in your free time recently?

I like playing basketball and watching sports such as soccer and AFL. I’m not all about sports, so I also enjoy watching movies and travelling.
