The year was 2004 and Hassan had just completed his Bachelor of Computer Science and Software Engineering. Having been introduced to software testing as a subject in the final year of his studies, Hassan was drawn to this specialist field and wanted to learn more about it.
“I enjoy working in a fast-paced team environment, so the prospect of working in testing, particularly in an Agile team, immediately appealed to me,” Hassan said. “I thought it was great how Agile helps in bringing the team together to become more collaborative.”
While looking at job opportunities aimed at graduates, Hassan found that Planit was the only company that ran a graduate program in software testing. This turned out to be a highly memorable beginning to a stellar career at Planit.
Planit’s Sydney-based Director of Testing Services, Graham Davis recounts the experience:
“13 years ago, we ran our first bootcamp in Sydney. On that bootcamp was Hassan Khokhar, who showed up halfway through the first day having missed his flight from Melbourne. He spent much of that day asleep! Fast forward 13 years, and looking at the fantastic job he has done, we couldn’t have been happier to promote him to Principal Consultant at our 2017 end of financial year party in Melbourne. A great guy and a very well-deserved promotion.”
This was Hassan’s seventh promotion since joining Planit. Reflecting on his time with Planit to date, Hassan said “It's been an amazing journey and I have enjoyed every bit of it! Planit’s world leading training has always been a major selling point for Hassan, enabling him to skill-up and stay current with developments in the IT industry. “The technology space is one of the most rapidly changing industries around, so I like to ensure that I am up-to-date with market trends and am able to provide the best advice to clients,” he said.
When it comes to key learnings from his days as a graduate tester, Hassan emphasises the importance of starting a career at an organisation that takes testing seriously and “does not treat it as a necessity.” “This will provide you with the right foundation to correctly build your career as a professional tester,” he said.
