Welcome to our Meet the Team series, where we look at the lives of various Planit team members from across the company. We caught up with Ashly Babu, an engineer with our Sydney team since 2020, to find out about her experience and skills, her relocation to Australia, and her love for dancing.
What is your career background?
I initially joined Planit in Hyderabad through its Software Testing Bootcamp in 2017. Two years later and I had the opportunity to relocate to the Sydney office, where I have been since.
What are your key areas of expertise?
I am functional tester specialising in Microsoft Dynamics 365 and Salesforce testing, with experience in functional, UAT, exploratory, compatibility, sanity, integration, regression, and usability testing. I have worked on numerous projects in the education, retail, and insurance sectors, and I also have experience with Project Management Office.
What do you love about your job?
It’s the diversity and unique opportunities of each project. From the moment I started my testing career, there has always been moments where I am exposed to different applications and learn the necessary skillsets to use them effectively.
What makes you great at your job?
My willingness to step up my game whenever required and always keeping an open mind with a willingness to change.
What do you love about your team?
They are always willing to step in and help when needed. This has exceptional level of trust and teamwork has helped us to achieve project milestones even in the most challenging of times.
What do you love about working for Planit?
It’s the work culture and opportunities. From the time I started my career at Planit, I have been supported not only by my teammates, but also by the local and global management teams.
I have also been rewarded and recognised for all the hard work I do. I was able to use this recognition to not only progress in the company, but also relocate from India to Australia.
What's your favourite challenge solved in the line of duty?
There came a point with a client where I became a single point of contact from an onshore perspective, which would be the first time where I would take on so much responsibility.
What was the solution and results?
With the help and guidance of the account manager, I was able to build a good rapport with the client to become a bridge between them and my team. This strong collaboration resulted in two successful deployments over two years.
What have you been doing in your free time recently?
I enjoy dancing, which is something I have been passionate about since childhood. It helps me de- stress and get a good workout at the same time. I also started lifting weights to help get in shape.
Besides that, I enjoy cooking and learning new recipes from YouTube videos.
